The national government started implementing on Monday a ‘no vax, no ride’ policy for public transport to limit the movement of unvaccinated people and curb the spread of the disease.

MANILA, Philippines — The Parañaque City government has ordered stricter regulations for unvaccinated individuals while Metro Manila is under Alert Level 3.

Mayor Edwin Olivarez signed Executive Order 2022-01 to “protect and promote the right to health of the people and instill health consciousness among them.”

The order came after the Metro Manila Council, composed of all 17 mayors of the region, agreed on a resolution calling for respective ordinances on enhanced restrictions for the unvaccinated.

Under the measure, unvaccinated individuals should remain in their homes, except for essential travel and for individual outdoor exercise.

They will also not be allowed on public transport by land, sea and air except when accessing essential goods and services.

Individuals should always bring their vaccination cards from the local government or vaccination certificate from the Department of Health.

The Parañaque ordinance prohibits the unvaccinated from enjoying indoor and outdoor dining in restaurants as well as leisure trips to
malls, hotels, event venues, sports and country clubs and similar facilities.

Business establishments will be prohibited from catering to unvaccinated individuals, unless they are exempted. Violators will be meted sanctions.

Only vaccinated people will be allowed to report for on-site work. Unvaccinated workers will be required to undergo RT-PCR or antigen testing every two weeks and present a negative result before being allowed to work on-site.

Those found to have falsified their vaccine card or certificate will be prosecuted under the Revised Penal Code or the COVID-19 Vaccination Program Act of 2021.

As of Jan. 17, there were 1,551 active cases in the city, which recorded 42,712 confirmed cases as well as 40,407 recoveries and 754 deaths.
